Cynthia A. Schaub
Cynthia was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised most of her childhood in Charlotte, NC. She was a tomboy, a bit of a loner, and always seeking adventure. Her small, single-parent family moved often, so it seemed completely natural for her to have big dreams of travel. Years of self-discovery through reading books, being a latch-key-kid and some good old fashion one on one therapy lead her to enlist in the United States Air force in June of 1993. Even though it was a difficult decision to make, Cynthia shares that it was definitely the right one for her. Stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, she worked at Wilford Hall Medical Center in the OBGYN clinic and the Cardiac Care Unit in administration. While in the service, she trained for triathlons with the base team and ran competitively. It was actually at a triathlon in Austin, Texas, when Cynthia received her first massage and the seed was planted. In addition to active duty, Cynthia spent most of her weekends working with mentally challenged and down syndrome women. She also coached soccer, aquatics, and basketball for the Texas Special Olympics. After her four years in the air force, Cynthia headed to Atlanta, GA to be closer to her parents and nieces. She then attended The New Life Institute of Massage Therapy and graduated in 1999 specializing in NMT Neuromuscular Therapy. She immediately fell madly in love with massage and went right into building a business. Shortly after graduating, she founded The Buckhead Massage Company in October 2000. “Cynthia is one of the pioneers in her industry in Atlanta” shared Sherman Anderson, director for Gwinnett College School of Massage. In April of 2014, she sold the business to one of her massage therapists. And after years of bodywork and running a business, Cynthia took some time off to travel and explore. She spent time in Lisbon, Portugal doing spa consulting for a famous five-star resort, did some voice-over work for the international companyThermomix and even ran an Air BnB. After a few years of travel and some more soul searching, Cynthia returned back to her true passion, bodywork. Cynthia has combined all of her twenty years of education, travel, work with other therapists, and studying under some of the greatest mentors into her work. “It is difficult to explain my technique because I literally have taken something positive from every class I attended, every book I’ve read, every massage I’ve received and blended it all together for a unique healing experience for each one of my clients. I have trained in NMT, sports, reflexology, cranial-sacral, Myofacial, Eric Dalton technique, studied in Thailand at TMC Thai Massage School and many more modalities. When she is not working, Cynthia enjoys hiking, walking, networking, dancing, spending time with family, hanging with Buddie the family dog, taking road trips and learning.
